A choreographic exploration of line and form and its influence on our ideals of aesthetic pleasure.

Counter Pointe is a work in progress that investigates the confines and freedoms of the classical ballet form and how these seemingly conflicting perspectives work in simultaneous appreciation within the body. Exploring the non-linear world of a linear dance language through the channels of classical and contemporary dancers, this piece challenges how we expect stories to be conveyed through the language of ballet.

It calls into question our existing ideals of aesthetics toward ballet, provoking creators and viewers to ask thoughtful questions about their own indoctrinated ideals of beauty, romance, and gender.
